Puppy Raising Diary

Meet our youngest dog Zip. In this course we have documented her entire first year of training, socialisation, problem prevention and problem solving.

You will get to watch videos, and read explainations and diaries of what we did, why we did it, how we did it and what our next steps will be. We also discuss how to adapt this to suit your own pup as not all pups are the same.

You'll see absolutely everything that we did with Zip including:
  • Crate training
  • Socialisation with dogs, people, environments etc
  • Dealing with biting
  • Teaching her to come when called
  • Showing her how to play toy games with us and want to play those games with her
  • Teaching her tricks that we'll use for competitiong training later on but you might use for mental stimulation
  • How we taught her to be calm
  • We had to work through her interest in chasing the cat and the chickens
  • We also had to address her frustration behaviour when we were doing things with other dogs.
  • We show how we taught her place, recall, sit, stays, loose lead walking, formal heel, hold (formal retrieve), foundations to scent work and so much more!

Join us on our training journey with our new pup Zip!

Our goal with Zip was to raise her to be an awesome family pet and future demo and competition dog. This course covers everything we did to get to that stage.

This course is part diary, part training guide including video logs, written logs and some audio discussions on why we're doing certain things or why they are important.

If you are raising a puppy and don't know what recall training or socialisation looks like then this course will show you exactly how we do it. Not just with Zip but we use the same system with all the pups we raise and train. We also include all the little things that we do that you might not think of and you can follow along and do similiar work with your puppy.

Disclaimer: Zip is a pup that we bred and selected purposefully. We raised the litter and there is much that we did as breeders that will have given Zip an advantage to many other puppies. Our litter socialisation process is extensive and our pups typically have had a large amount of exposure and socialisation work put into them before 8 weeks along with little training moments to help combat various things we notice in the pups when they are together as a litter. This does give Zip a massive advantage and will mean she is likely to be more advanced than many other puppies at her age - that doesn't mean you can't learn from her journey though! But please keep that in mind and try not to compare your pup too much.

What you can expect

The course is broken up into stages based on age. In the early months we've separated the content in key focus areas - socialistion, life skills and competition work to make it easier to identify what may be relevant or interesting to you.

In the intro we discuss a little bit about Zip, why we chose her and how we selected her. We'll also share some information and videos on what the litter socialisation process was like and what we did with the entire litter so you can understand how the breeder can impact the puppies. Some of these exercises can be done with your puppy once you get them and don't neccessarily need to be done by the breeder.

From about 4 months of age we move the content into monthly sections with either daily entries or sometimes entries of a couple of days at time. The title of each entry gives a brief description of what the key moments or points were during that stage.

From about 10 months onwards we're not documenting as much of the every day life stuff and including mostly the training sessions we're doing and written content discussing observations, problems and what we did and why.

Why buy this course?

Raising a puppy isn't easy and puppy hood is the most important stage of your dog's life. What you do during puppyhood can make or break your dog and can set your dog up for the behaviours, problems or successes that you'll face as your dog reaches maturity.

Professional dog trainers don't take their pups to puppy school, they don't go to dog parks, they are super cautious about exposure and socialisation and they rarely raise dogs that are reactive, aggressive or poorly behaved. Why is that?

This course shows you exactly what  a professional dog trainer does with their own pup. We use this same approach to teach our puppy owners and buyers how to raise their pups. If you copy even 50% of what we do in this course with your pup you'll have a pretty awesome young dog on your hands!

As already mentioned, we also discuss how to adapt the things we do to suit your own dog and lifestyle. Not all dogs are as driven as Zip or as confident and we share how we modify outings, experiences, games and training sessions to suit a range of dogs.

Seeing us for just one private lesson will cost your more than twice what this course costs and we'd only be able to share with you 1/10th of what we cover in this course in that session. Seeing us for private training will cost you over $1500 but for only $99 you can see exactly what we do with our own pups and replicate that with your pup.
